Elias Ahonen is a Finnish-Canadian author described as “one of the first Bitcoin historians” for his book Physical Bitcoins (2016) exploring metal coins and bullion pieces made to honor a seemingly opposite phenomenon of digital money, revealing cultural commonalities between precious metal and cryptocurrency communities.

His doctoral research at the University of Turku Law School concerns the intersection of blockchain and international law. A columnist for Cointelegraph, his expertise is acknowledged by international media including The Wall Street Journal.
